CPSC Recall: Jenn-Air Wall Ovens — Roller Rack Burn Hazard (2015)

Whirlpool Corporation, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), voluntarily recalled approximately 33,000 Jenn-Air brand single and double wall ovens, and combination microwave/wall ovens. The extendable roller rack with handle can unexpectedly disengage when fully extended, posing a risk of burns.

Affected Models

Jenn-Air wall ovens with model numbers beginning with: JJW2, JJW3, JMW2, or JMW3 and serial numbers beginning with D or F.

Sold in stainless steel, oiled bronze, black, and white. The Jenn-Air logo is on the lower right corner of the oven door. Model and serial numbers for single and double ovens are under the control panel; for combination ovens, near the center vent of the lower oven.

Hazard

The extendable roller rack can unexpectedly disengage when fully extended, posing a risk of burns to consumers. Whirlpool received eight reports of incidents, including one report of second-degree burn injuries to the arm and back.

Sold At

Sears, Pacific Sales, and other stores nationwide from March 2012 through June 2015 for between $2,500 and $5,000.

Recommended Action

Consumers should immediately stop using the extendable roller rack and contact Whirlpool Corporation for a free in-home inspection and repair.

Urgency Level

High — burn hazard. Stop using the roller rack immediately and contact manufacturer for free repair.
